Founder and Managing Director of Blossom Eduacation and BEE Academy: Winner of the Nursery Provider of the Year; Corporate Social Responsibility Arabia Awards; awarded Nursery Provider of the Year by Arabian Child. Dubai SME 100 winner placing #21 in the 100 ranking of Dubai businesses in November 2013; Women in Leadership Award; CPI Entrepreneurs forum and winner of Citibank Business Plan award Dubai Chamber (2009). Blossom Nursery is founded on triple PPP principles which balance people, planet and prosperity and is writing a new curriculum “skygarden” which is shared with children alongside the framework of the British Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Blossom has joined the United Nations Global Compact and has a green, sustainable ethos and has an active community recycling program which is funded by Blossom along with supporting a variety of charitable initiatives from Make a Wish to Medicins San Frontier. This small group of 4 nurseries is making waves in the public sector and growing to include a variety of new “skillplay” activities so that education is seen as much more than just learning, it’s engaging and blossoming the young minds of tomorrow.
Zahra has a Juris Doctorate degree in Law from Columbia University in NYC, Cum Laude (1999); and an Honours Bach. Arts in Mid East and Islamic Studies and Women’s Studies from the University of Toronto. Zahra also has attended the Harvard Graduate School of Education’s Future of Learning program and is currently a member of the Harvard Principals Club, the NAEYC, New York Attorneys Association and is actively involved in promoting the value of early years education with a focus on ensuring environments are both secure and stimulating.
Started her career in New York City as a Wall Street lawyer at Milbank Tweed, working on deals such as the IBM and Bank of Nova Scotia technology outsourcing project worth over $1 billion dollars and having taken a number of deals public or to angel investors – most in the region of $50 million dollars plus for clients such as Chase Bank, Chase Capital Partners, IBM, Simon & Schuster and various tech statups in NYC, London and Singapore. Admitted to the New York Bar Association (Attorney License: 3939469 renewed and in good standing) and currently teaches business law to university level students in Dubai.
